‘Michael’, the biopic on the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, headlined by Jaafar Jackson, has posted a steady opening weekend at the Indian box office. As per early estimates, the film collected an estimated Rs 16 crore net over its first three days, despite a mixed critical reception.

According to trade estimates on sacnilk, the film earned Rs 5.50 crore on Day 3 (Sunday) across 3,201 shows. This marked a 7.8% growth over its Saturday earnings of Rs 5.10 crore, indicating positive weekend momentum. The film had opened with Rs 3.70 crore on Friday, in addition to Rs 1.70 crore from preview screenings, taking its total net collection to approximately Rs 16 crore by the end of its debut weekend.In gross collectons, ‘Michael’ is estimated to have collected around Rs 19.20 crore in India, narrowly missing the Rs 20 crore mark.

The film’s performance has also positioned it ahead of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ in terms of current box office momentum. The Ranveer Singh starrer, now in its sixth week, earned an estimated Rs 7.95 crore over its sixth weekend, taking its cumulative India net total to approximately Rs 1,130.59 crore.

Box office data indicates that the Hollywood film has emerged as a strong new contender for the Bollywood films. While it has not only outperformed ‘Dhurandhar’, it has also impacted the business of ‘Bhooth Bangla’, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The horror-comedy recorded an estimated Rs 29 crore over its second weekend, marking a significant drop from its opening weekend total of Rs 58 crore.
