PARATWADA (AMRAVATI): Ayaan Ahmed, the mastermind of the Amravati sex abuse and blackmail case, allegedly told sleuths very casually that he “became a playboy” after his first breakup.“This appears to be a case of a certain teenage mindset and lifestyle choice rather than a mental health issue,” a senior officer said.Investigations revealed that Ayaan had a flourishing cellphone business and earned enough money through paid promotions on Instagram, where he had around 18,000 followers. However, he would borrow money from friends and family. He used these funds to sustain a “promiscuous lifestyle”, splurging on girls and maintaining an extravagant social image.Police said his flamboyant social media presence played a key role in luring women. Ayaan would connect with girls online and gradually gain their trust over four to five months.Once a level of familiarity was established, he allegedly sought sexual favours or coerced them into engaging in such activity.Ayaan supervised AIMIM (Amravati unit)’s social media handle before he was sacked.
