YouTube Premium to get a price hike in the US: Here is how much YouTube Individual and YouTube Family plans will cost now

Google may be increasing the prices of YouTube Premium subscriptions in the US after more than three years. In 2022, the tech giant increased the price of the Family Plan by $5, followed by a 2023 hike in the Individual Plan. The latest revision reportedly raises prices by up to $4 per month and is already live for new subscribers. According to a report by 9to5Google, existing users are being notified via email, with the updated pricing set to take effect from the June 2026 billing cycle. However, the company has not made a broad public announcement. In the emails sent to subscribers (seen by 9to5Google), the company wrote, “To continue delivering great service and features, we’re increasing your price to $15.99/month. We don’t make these decisions lightly, but this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube. You will see the change reflected on your June 7, 2026 billing date.”

Under the revised pricing, the Individual plan now costs $15.99 per month, up from $13.99, while the Family plan has increased to $26.99 per month from $22.99. The Lite plan, which has been available for about a year, is now priced at $8.99 per month, up from $7.99.

Individual $13.99 $15.99 +$2.00
Family $22.99 $26.99 +$4.00
Lite $7.99 $8.99 +$1.00

Although some customers are still experiencing the older pricing on their platforms, the report notes that there have been gradual notifications of the price rise. It important to note that these price increases are similar to those seen in other streaming services, such as Netflix.Subscribers who do not wish to continue can cancel or pause their membership for up to six months via YouTube Memberships. Individual users can also pay annually at $159.99, bringing the effective monthly cost down to just over $13.
