The Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) 2026 for the July session was conducted on Saturday across multiple centres, with thousands of candidates appearing for the postgraduate medical entrance examination.INI-CET is conducted twice a year by AIIMS Delhi for admission into postgraduate medical courses including MD, MS, MCh, DM and MDS programmes in premier institutions across the country.With the exam now over, it’s time to focus to the next steps in the admission process, particularly the result announcement, counselling schedule and seat allocation details.
INI-CET 2026: Result date
As per the official schedule, the INI-CET May 2026 result is expected to be declared on 23 May 2026. Candidates who qualify in the examination will proceed to the counselling and seat allocation rounds.The result will determine eligibility for participation in the next stages of admission into participating Institutes of National Importance (INIs).
INI-CET 2026: Counselling and seat allocation process
After the result declaration, the seat allocation process will be conducted online for all participating institutes. The counselling will include at least two main rounds followed by an Open Round, with the detailed schedule to be released separately.Seat allotment will be carried out based on merit and candidate preferences. The key factors include:
- Rank and merit position of the candidate
- Choices filled during counselling
- Reservation policies including OBC, SC, ST, EWS and PwBD categories
- Institutional rules of respective participating institutes
The process will follow an institute-wise synchronised system, where all participating INIs coordinate seat distribution based on availability and candidate selection.As per the official timeline, the academic session for selected candidates is expected to begin from 1 July 2026, while the last date for admission has been set for 31 August 2026.
