Oracle announced to cut jobs across its global office last month, impacting thousands of employees. The layoffs, which were communicated through an early 6am email, have triggered reactions across the tech industry. Amid this, a former Microsoft senior executive has shared a LinkedIn post with a message for the laid off Oracle employees. Sara N, who worked at Microsoft from 1999 to July 2025 wrote: “Seeing the Oracle layoffs this morning was disappointing. And knowing some of my dear friends were impacted made me sad.”Drawing from her personal experience, the executive said: “I’ve been on the receiving end of that kind of news before, and it changes you and not just professionally. It forces you to rethink what matters, who matters, and how you want to spend your time. Which BTW I think is a good thing”. For those unaware, Microsoft cut about 6,000 roles in May and around 9,000 in July last year. She also highlighted the importance of individual skills and experience, the post continued, “What you built, how you think, how you show up, your unique experience and skills — that is all you and that is what provided value. No one can take that away.”

“Seeing the Oracle layoffs this morning was disappointing. And knowing some of my dear friends were impacted made me sad. I’ve been on the receiving end of that kind of news before, and it changes you and not just professionally. It forces you to rethink what matters, who matters, and how you want to spend your time. Which BTW I think is a good thing. If you’re in that group today… I’m really sorry. There’s no way to sugarcoat it — it just sucks. But here’s what I know now that I didn’t fully appreciate then: the job is/was never the thing that makes/made you valuable. What you built, how you think, how you show up, your unique experience and skills — that is all you and that is what provided value. No one can take that away. One thing I’d strongly encourage;Text the person you’ve been meaning to reconnect with. Say yes to the coffee. Tell people what you’re looking for (even if you’re not 100% sure yet). And if you need someone in your corner, I’m here.”
