HPSC HCS recruitment 2026: Selection process
The selection process has three stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- Personality Test (Interview)
The prelims exam included two objective-type papers of 100 marks each:
- General Studies (Paper I)
- Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Paper II
Paper II is qualifying in nature, and only the marks of General Studies are considered for shortlisting candidates for the main examination.
HPSC HCS mains exam 2026
Candidates who have qualified in the preliminary examination will now appear for the Main Written examination. The mains examination is scheduled to be held from June 27 to June 29, 2026. The mains exam will have six descriptive papers, including:

- Hindi
- Four General Studies papers
Candidates who clear the mains examination will be called for the Personality Test, which carries 75 marks.
