Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, ‘Bhooth Bangla’, this week. Ahead of its theatrical debut on Friday, the Central Board of Film Certification has cleared the horror comedy with a few modifications. Reportedly, the makers of the movie completed the certification process well in advance to avoid any issues.
CBFC grants Akshay Kumar starrer a UA 16+ rating
According to the Bollywood Hungama report, the Central Board of Film Certification has granted ‘Bhooth Bangla’ a U/A 16+ rating. However, the board also directed the producers to make a few changes in it. Reportedly, an obscenity was removed from the film. The Board also asked the makers to replace the set of obscene words, including one from the subtitle of the film.
CBFC orders cuts
An offensive remark about women in the first half of the film is to be changed and a warning note for scenes involving religion and superstition will have to be added. Tthe film ‘Bhooth Bangla’ received its censor certificate on April 2. According to the certificate, the total runtime of the film is 2 hours, 54 minutes, and 57 seconds.
‘Bhooth Bangla’ runtime
A few days later, the filmmakers went back to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on their own and made additional cuts to the film. The CBFC approved these cuts on April 11. In total, 63 scenes were trimmed. Most of the cuts were small, just a second or a few seconds long. The biggest cut was 1 minute and 12 seconds, taken from a scene in the song ‘O Sundari’. Another 27 seconds were removed from the song ‘O Re O Sawariya’.In this way, Bhooth Bangla’s duration came down by 10 minute and 5 seconds. The revised length is 164.52 minutes, that is, 2 hours 44 minutes and 52 seconds.
