6 dead, 4 injured as SUV plunges into 300 metre deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh

SHIMLA: At least six tourists from Gujarat were killed and four others injured after an SUV plunged into a 300-metre-deep gorge in the Chowari subdivision of Chamba district early Monday morning.The accident took place on the Lohru–Dalhousie road after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.The victims died on the spot, while the injured were shifted to a government hospital for treatment.The identities of the deceased were yet to be confirmed.This is the second major accident in Himachal Pradesh within a month.In April, three tourists were killed and 17 injured after a similar vehicle fell into a gorge near Jalori Jot in Kullu district.A day ago, at least 28 people suffered injuries when a private bus overturned after the driver experience sudden chest pain and lost control of the vehicle in Kangra district.As per news agency PTI, the driver was among those injured. The accident occurred around 11am on the Pathankot-Mandi National Highway in the Nurpur sub-division, when the bus was going to Una from Chamba.

As per the PTI report, the driver suffered a sudden heart attack and the bus went out of control. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
